The Athens Area Humane Society’s fundraising gala The Great Catsby is a Roaring ’20s-themed evening featuring live music by local jazz group The Hot Hotty-Hots, dancing, Prohibition-era cocktails by In Good Spirits, food from Trumps Catering, garden tours, a photo booth and silent auction. The AAHS is a donor-supported, no-kill shelter dedicated to lowering area euthanasia rates, and facilitated over 1,500 adoptions and 5,000 spay and neuters last year alone. Funds from Friday’s gala will support the building of a larger facility that would allow the AAHS to increase the number of rescues and adoptions in the region and expand volunteer opportunities at the shelter.
