Parade of Lights

Decorated floats, marching bands and other community groups will march through the streets celebrating this year’s theme, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” The parade kicks off at the corner of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street, turning left onto Clayton, left onto Thomas and rounding the corner onto Washington Street. Parade floats and performance groups will be evaluated at the judges’ stand, located at the corner of Washington and College Avenue, and prizes will be awarded for “Most Original Float,” “Best Use of Theme,” “Best Use of Lights” and the best-overall “Mayor’s Award.” The celebration culminates as Santa and Mrs. Claus lead a traditional tree-lighting ceremony in front of City Hall.
