Las Piñas, Hunger Anthem

Argentinian duo Las Piñas formed two years ago out of a mutual admiration of the contemporary indie rock of its home country and the thriving garage-punk scene of the American West Coast. The group—consisting of guitarist and vocalist Sofia Cardich and drummer Antonela Perigo—blends the two styles quite convincingly on Pista de Fuego, a recently released four-song EP. Surfy and shimmery, the record makes for an excellent mid-summer soundtrack. The band hits the Rooftop Thursday evening near the end of a month-long jaunt across the U.S. Fuzzed-out Athens rockers Hunger Anthem open the show.
