Gypsy Wildcats; Hot Club of Athens

Drawing from time-tested Dixieland and gypsy jazz influences, local low-key supergroup Gypsy Wildcats will host a “post-turkey celebration” Friday evening to help get your mind off those leftovers. The five-piece, which features members of Cicada Rhythm, the Athens Cowboy Choir, Trio Deluxe and others, utilizes acoustic guitar, standup bass, violin, mandolin, banjo and harmonica, making for an old-timey yet subtly contemporary sound. The post-Thanksgiving gypsy jazz celebration actually lasts for two nights at Hendershot’s; Saturday will feature the similarly minded Hot Club of Athens, which features lauded indie-pop singer-songwriter Kaoru “Kishi Bashi” Ishibashi on violin, doing its thing.
