Self-taught sculptor Kipley A. Meyer presents a collection of new works for “Within,” an exhibition exploring the interplay between disparate inspirations, including abstract forms, minimalism, music and communication. The artist’s work is created by assembling and carving solid domestic hardwoods, each time responding to the piece’s natural knots, crevices and other unique markings. Rusted nails and brads are occasionally incorporated before layering on natural milk paint and wax, resulting in earth-toned wall sculptures with deeply grooved geometric patterns. The smooth lines combine with textured surfaces to create forms that are simultaneously rustic and contemporary. Meyer’s exhibition will remain on view through Aug. 28.
