Co-organized by the Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Management Program and Water Conservation Office, Roll Out the Barrels is an annual silent auction that transforms 20 ordinary rain barrels into eye-catching, functional pieces of hand-painted art. Participating local artists include Chris Taylor, Ansley Sproull, Lorenza Chico Rozier, Cameron Bliss, Will Eskridge, Maggie Baxter and a dozen others. The sixth annual silent auction features a book signing by Susan M. Varlamoff, author of Sustainable Gardening for the Southeast, as well as a native plant sale. Proceeds benefit the Athens Green School Program, an initiative that promotes environmental education through projects focusing on conservation, preservation and beautification.
