Up Your Athens Punk/Ska Fest

In its fifth year, the all-ages Up Your Athens punk rock festival expands, “Coachella-style,” to borrow a winking phrase from Flagpole’s Gordon Lamb, to two weekends, with a lineup of 54 (!) regional bands, including hard-rocking representatives from Athens, Macon, Atlanta, South Carolina and elsewhere. Both Friday events start at 7:30 p.m., while the Saturday jams get going at 4 p.m. As always, it’s dirt-cheap at the door, though an additional donation is requested to help cover the final expenses of Triangle Fire drummer John Barber, who died earlier this year. There’s not another annual rock and roll event in Athens as open-minded, nor as fun, so make it your beeswax to be there.

7:30 p.m. (May 1 & 8), 4 p.m. (May 2 & 9). $1 (21+), $3 (under 21). caledonialounge.com
